Paras Maternity Hospital and Newborn Care Centre Umarkot is a SDA United Kingdom’s  mega project in Maternal and Child Health in an area of much health care shortage in rural Sindh, Southern Pakistan. The project was conceived after the sad demise of Ms Paras Memon in 2006, at a very young age. Bringing help and succour to others would ensure that her short 15 years bring lasting benefits to this underprivileged and deprived area. It was envisaged that this initiative would enable others to achieve their potential and lead a fuller life. The project was planned quickly with help from funds generated by SDA UK and the District Government of Umarkot. The stone laying ceremony was conducted by Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur local MNA Umarkot in 2009. The project has made great progress and after spending Pak Rs 12 million the building work is nearly complete. This is one of largest SDA investment in Health facilities for the poor and under privileged area of Sindh.
